Our Story

The Sioux Empire Ghostbusters were established in 2024 to give the Sioux Empire its first and only member led, 501 (c)(3) charitable Ghostbusters fan organization, dedicated to sharing our love of the Ghostbusters franchise with the entire Sioux Empire region. The team consists of all levels of members, ranging from first time 'busters to veteran cosplayers, and both fans and leaders in the fan community, with collective decades of experience suiting up and bringing joy to all we interact with, and offering a next level of fun to events, might we add. We pride ourselves in not only being South Dakota's first 501(c)(3) Ghostbusters fan franchise, but also the first Sioux Falls headquartered Ghostbusters franchise.

We are a very active team whose members you've likely seen in some capacity over the last several years. And when we say team, we emphasize team. We value each member's input and contributions, actively encouraging each other in a judgement free zone. We welcome all levels of the fandom and cosplay, with the only requirement being a shared love for our favorite haunted franchise. That's right - no Walter Peck types ruining the vibe. We are all about fun, acceptance, and friendship.

In our time as an organization since 2024, we have already been involved with several events, and had the pleasure of meeting and inducting into our list of honorary members some true Ghostbusters legends - Joe Cirillo ("You do your job, pencil neck, don't tell me how to do mine!"), Billy Bryan (Stay Puft Marshmallow Man), Kevin Mangold (Slimer), and Allie Weber (Aztec Death Whistle co-creator). We have shared our story on the "Why We Bust Podcast", earned our Ghostbusters Give Back patch by raising over $1000 for charity in 2025 - 2026, and traveled to Wonderverse to team up with other 501(c)(3) groups to do our favorite thing - raise funds for charity while dressed in khaki!
